Since Goa is a coastal state, the food of people here mainly includes fish curry with rice. Indian and Western flavors have influenced Goan dishes to develop into modern day Goan cuisine that is irresistibly delicious with strong coastal flavors.

Goan dishes are simple with full use of coastal produces such as coconuts, fishes, lobsters and crabs etc. The typical Goan taste is to cook seafood in lots of coconut milk. Here are few dishes from Goa that you must try if you are a fan of fresh aroma and tasty preparations:
1. Vindaloo

Vindaloo is extremely popular meat dish not only in Goa or India; infact, it is much appreciated worldwide for its tender meat. Vindaloo comes from a Portuguese term “Vinho e alho” which means garlic and wine. On festive occasions, pork or lamb meat is marinated with garlic and wine. The dish is then prepared with aromatic local spices like red chillies, Goan vinegar and fresh jiggery from palm trees.

4. Bebinca
No meal is complete without a sweet dish; there are many sweet Goan dishes that are delectable. One of such dishes is Bebinca that is prepared with layers of clarified butter, plain flour, coconut milk, almond slivers and egg yolks. It is an impeccable mix of simple Konkan cooking and European extravagance.




Goan dishes are exotic and worth trying. Some other authentic Goan delicacies include Sorpotel, Sol Kadhi and Prawn Curry. These dishes are spicy but not extremely fiery. These dishes can be made to suit your palate.
